Lacuna Fund: Datasets for Language in Sub-Saharan Africa (Request for Proposals)

Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence Grants for Africa

Lacuna Fund is the world’s first collaborative effort to provide data scientists, researchers, and social entrepreneurs in low- and middle-income contexts globally with the resources they need to produce labeled datasets that address urgent problems in their communities. Please visit lacunafund.org for more information about the Fund.

This request for proposals (RFP) will fund the creation, labeling, augmentation, or maintenance of datasets for machine learning in languages in sub-Saharan Africa. We envision that these datasets will both enable specific tasks in natural language processing (NLP) and broader research in machine learning with the ultimate goal of supporting social impact. The RFP closes on 6 November 2020 at 23:59 East African Time (GMT+3)

Please find the authoritative version of the RFP here.
